5 Small Things That Will Make Your Home a Happy Place

1// Open your blinds - It's all too easy to forget this simple step when you are busy getting through your daily morning routine {between all the yawning, in my case}, but letting natural light in can make a huge difference to your day. In fact, it enhances your mood, reduces stress, and even allows you to think clearer by increasing blood flow your brain. Oh how opening the blinds makes me smarter!

2// Make your bed - Doing this simple, three minute task can help you start your day off right. After all, there's nothing like feeling productive at the start of your day!

3// Limit the number of TV's in your home - Try to keep the television out of your home's most important rooms - the kitchen, living room, family room, dining room, bedroom. Typically, these spaces are about spending time with people, gathering together  positively cultivating the relationships with those around you. The television allows passivity, and while sometimes that is a welcome experience, save that for a designated "TV room" that is separate from these other gathering places.

4// Display sentimental items - Rather than filling your home entirely with knick knacks found at large stores {and I've got my fair share of those!}, mix in items of sentimental value - a piece of artwork you found on your last vacation, a sculpture of a panda bear made by your niece in art class, a letter from your grandmother that meant a lot to you. Making your home a space to display these positive memories will not only make you happier, but will give those who enter your home a glimpse into your life's story.

5// Try to clean on a regular basis - Even if this just means uncluttering  your countertop, or spending three minutes picking your laudry up off of the floor, an uncluttered space means an uncluttered brain! Hip hip to an uncluttered brain!

  1. I've got to get in the habit of making my bed everyday. It's the best feeling, isn't it?
